Living in a small Southern town, the schools released early. Why? For the high school football pep rally on the town square before the first football game!
What this meant to me was negotiating time off from my real job to do my mom job. Racing back and forth from one city to another, picking up some extra kids along the way. The kids making memories left and right and me constantly reminding myself that was the priority of the day.
In the end, we enjoyed ice cream and cold drinks in the 107 degree heat index. We visited with friends both new and old. The kids got to cheer for their team and we got to support our community.
