Being an only parent of three, I have to prioritize everything to the point where normal people could not possibly comprehend. I understand that they do not understand and quite frankly I am glad because I would not wish this life on any family. It is just a given that I will not meet every deadline and even though that goes directly against my nature, I have to accept this as fact, do the very best that I can and just try to sort out the aftermath.
My children started school one week ago yesterday, so this week is their first full week of school. Austin (5) started kindergarten, so he only attended a half day last Wednesday and then did not return to school until Monday. Jackson (7) began second grade and Holland (9) began fourth grade.
Having to complete all the school forms for three children is rather time consuming. This had to be prioritized along with my two jobs, domestic goddess duties, the homework of three children, sport practices for three children (Holland taking three dance classes, everyone taking soccer) and the new school schedule adjustments. Something had to give, so I elected to return the oldest two children's paperwork ON TIME and turn in the kindergarten's paperwork late. GASP.
Monday, Austin's FIRST FULL DAY of school, Jackson's second grade teacher wrote AS HIS HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT for Jackson to have me complete Austin's paperwork. Additionally, the Austin's teacher stopped Holland in the hall to remind her to have me complete Austin's paperwork. So, that night at Holland's practice, while babysitting two additional children and while helping someone else's child with their homework, I simultaneously completed my homework assignment.
Tuesday, Austin turned in the now family homework assignment. He also "pulled a card", aka got in trouble, for the first time. This being my third child, my reaction reading the note from the teacher was very skewed.
"Austin shoved a child who cut in line in front of him." I think to myself, oh, that must of have been the lunch line, next.
"Austin, despite being repeatedly told NOT to do so, climbed up the slide backwards yelling 'Hey, watch this!'" Really? That's all you have got? I am just glad he did not disrupt the classroom and kept his clothes on all day.
For the many many up coming years of multiple kids in school here is my tip to help with the Piles of school paper that has to be filled out EVERY year. I fill in the basic information that is the same for both kids then make a copy of it and add the child's information. Then I only have a few that are different for each child. Hope this helps:0)
