Motivated for Change

Feeling like mom of the year already

Last night, I picked up my three hot, sweaty, tired & hungry children from after school care with about 30 seconds to spare. They were on the playground and Jax (7) sucker punched Austin (5) who had beat him to the slide. Austin comes running & screaming. I console him, Jax walks by & Austin returns the back punch.

The worst fist fight I have ever seen between them ensues. Being an only child myself, this sibling stuff still freaks me out and I never know what is normal. We walk to the car and Austin asks sweetly, "Mommy, can I tell you a secret?" Sure, baby. He leans over dramatically cupping his hand, cuts his eyes at Jax and says loudly into my ear, "JACKSON IS A REAL ASSHOLE!" Austin, I'm sure he'd say the same about you right now. Geez

Motivated for Change

Convicted at home I hit the door running.  I was determined to make a change and to become an overnight domestic goddess. Tonight would be the night I solve all of our the scheduling and organizational issues in a single bound.

The children were exhausted from their new school routines, so the oldest two were asleep by 7:30.  Yes, you read that right! Miracles were already happening.  The baby, Austin (5), had as much conviction about staying awake as I had about change. Tucking Austin into bed, he asks, "Is there such a thing as psychokinesis?  If there is, I might have it."  I replied, "If there is, you still have to go to sleep.  Stay in your bed and hone your craft, son."  Where do they get these things?  That child worries me.

Not once did I sit down from the time I got home until I went to bed at 10:30.  That is not entirely unusual as I am an only parent of three working two jobs.  As I told my oldest son tonight, your life is fine as long as you do not compare yourself to others.
